Registration is now OPEN for this year’s summer tournament, and we are trying some new things, so please read all details before registering your interest!
➡️ We will be running a Swiss-style tournament. This means that every pair will play the same number of games throughout the day. There will be no knockout stage, no finals. At the end of the day, EVERY point scored throughout the day will count toward final scoring and will ultimately dictate which pairs win the medals!
➡️ The World Badminton Federation has trialed and adopted games to 15 points. For that reason – we are going to trial games to 15 in this tournament.
➡️ Due to the nature of this tournament, there will be no requirement to secure a 2-point lead. The game will end once one pair reaches 15 points. Switch sides at 8 points if any player wishes to.
➡️ The tournament will be handicapped and graded based on those handicaps. This means you do not need to enter a specific grade. The committee will vote and assign handicaps/gradings once the tournament is at capacity. These handicaps will be published before the tournament and there will be an opportunity to appeal your handicap.
Format of the day:
🌅 Morning: There will be a randomised round robin with blended grades. You will play 7 of these games. These games will not affect who you are paired with, but the points scored WILL contribute toward medals at the end of the tournament.
🥪 Lunch: A light lunch will be provided. Sandwiches, fruit, snacks. Please bring your own food and drinks should you require a substantial lunch.
👫 Pairings: Pairings will be decided randomly after lunch.
🔀 Afternoon: Once pairings are confirmed, everyone will be split into their gradings and you will play against each other pair once.
📣 Results: Everyone will play exactly 14 games and the points from each of these games will be combined with your partner’s results to give your final score. This means the second round robin game results will count twice, putting equal weight on each round robin. (Maximum score would be 420 each pair).
🏅 Medals: Every participant will gather for results, with the top three parings winning Bronze, Silver, Gold.
🎟️ Raffle: There will be a raffle, and any raffle donations will be gratefully received.

🏸 Re-Stringing: Our resident stringer Harvey will be on site throughout the day offering stringing services on a pay-as-you-go basis.
🍻 After Party: This will take place at BarPop from 7.30pm. Stay tuned for more details closer to the date, but rest assured that the party will be action packed and entertaining!
