By signing up, you agree to our privacy policy, terms & conditions, and this code of conduct. You also agree to the club's ethos, and to play with plastic shuttlecocks only.
Our goal is simple: to create a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment where everyone can play badminton and have fun. Please read and agree to the following:
- We are a social club first and foremost. Enjoyment comes before competition.
- Players of all abilities are welcome and encouraged.
- Be friendly, supportive, and respectful to all members, coaches, committee volunteers, and centre staff.
- Mix up your games where possible and help new members feel included.
- Always treat everyone with respect, this includes respecting their identity, privacy, personal information, and physical belongings.
- Do not contact someone directly from the club's social chat without their permission.
- Never walk across an active court. Stay behind the red lines. Always move swiftly between courts single file.
- Wear suitable badminton or indoor court shoes.
- Stop play immediately if a shuttle or player enters your court.
- Return stray shuttles safely by rolling or gently tapping them under the net.
- Warm up before playing to reduce the risk of injury. Watch this Health & Safety video for more info.
- Games are played to 15, with the score called before each serve. At 14-14, play continues until a 2-point margin is reached, up to a hard cap of 21.
- Play doubles, not singles. Play honestly and in the spirit of good sportsmanship.
- Keep communication positive and constructive.
- Aggressive behaviour, shouting, or disrespectful conduct will not be tolerated.
- Everyone deserves a fair opportunity to play, so if others have been waiting longer or have played fewer games, encourage them onto court before taking another game.
- Follow the club's rotation system, including the graded pegboard (Mondays and Saturdays) when sessions are busy.
- When using the Rally Tally system, please record your own games accurately.
The club is run by volunteers and everyone's support is valued, so please help set up and pack away equipment where possible. If you join us after the session’s started, please find a committee member to pay before you play. Being a member of Northern Cocks Badminton Club, the aim of the game is to:
